Meet the Team at Mountain West Family Dentistry

You can take the girl out of Long Island, but you can’t take the Long Island out of the girl. Athena brought her East Coast energy to Colorado in February 2020, and yes—she is still judging the local bagel selection.

With over 20 years of customer service and management experience she is the ultimate go-to person, dedicated to helping her team and patients thrive. With a passion for putting patients first and a knack for organization, she keeps our team coordinated and our patients smiling. At home, she stays busy with her two fur babies, Pirate and Hazel, and her two fantastic step-kids, Chase and Island.

When she is off the clock, Athena balances her busy life with an eclectic mix of hobbies. She’s a plant enthusiast and amateur chef. If she isn't at a local brewery, she’s probably manifesting a beach day from a landlocked state, buried in a book, or unapologetically binging Bravo.

Alyssa is a Registered Dental Hygienist with over 12 years of clinical experience. Originally from Arkansas, she earned her Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene in Memphis, Tennessee, as well as her bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University.

For nearly seven years, Alyssa has been proud to be part of her current dental practice, where she has had the opportunity to build meaningful, long-lasting relationships with her patients and their families. She is passionate about providing high-quality, individualized care while creating a comfortable, positive, and welcoming experience at every visit. Alyssa strives to help her patients feel at ease while giving them the knowledge and confidence to achieve and maintain their best oral health. She is also a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and remains committed to continuing education and advancements in dental hygiene.

Originally from the South, Alyssa and her husband, Brandon, have proudly called Colorado home for about seven years. Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling-especially to Disney, spending time in the mountains, cheering on the Nuggets and Avalanche, and exploring all that Colorado has to offer. Most of all, she loves spending time with her husband and their 4-year-old mini Bernedoodle, Belle.

Ashley was born and raised in Oklahoma before making Colorado her home in 2016. Her passion for dentistry began in high school. In 2002, she started her very first job as a sterilization assistant working alongside her sister. From that moment, she knew dentistry was the career path for her. In 2008, Ashley helped launch a nonprofit dental clinic at Health for Friends in Norman, Oklahoma, where she played a key role in providing much-needed dental care to hundreds of patients. She later graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in History.

Ashley has built an extensive background in dentistry, serving as an expanded duties dental assistant and treatment coordinator. In 2023, she realized her lifelong dream of becoming a dental hygienist after graduating from Concorde Career College. With more than 20 years of experience in the dental field, Ashley brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to every patient interaction.

Outside the office, Ashley enjoys spending time with friends, playing board and video games, and curling up with a good book. She’s also a devoted Oklahoma sports fan — Boomer Sooner! While she’ll always cheer for the OKC Thunder, she also enjoys watching the Nuggets and Broncos play.

Originally from Virginia, Therese graduated from Lord Fairfax Community College with her dental hygiene license and moved here to Colorado shortly after. She has been practicing dental hygiene for about 5 years now and her passion for oral health has grown with each year. Her interests other than your teeth include portrait painting, hiking in the Rockies, paddle boarding at her local reservoir and golfing with her friends. She spends most of her free time with her two cats, Gub and Wesley, and her soon-to-be husband Liam.

Lexa is a Colorado native with five years of experience as a dental assistant who loves helping patients feel comfortable and confident in their smiles. Outside of work, Lexa enjoys exploring the city with her boyfriend, Andrew, discovering new favorite spots, and making memories together. She can always be found trying new restaurants or spending time in local parks and museums. She is a huge music lover and tries to catch as many concerts as she can. She also loves hosting friends and family at her home, creating memories filled with good food, music, and company. At the end of the day, she’s happiest spending time with her cat, Basil, and the people she loves most. Lexa loves being a part of Mountain West Family Dentistry because of the amazing team she gets to work alongside every day and the opportunity to meet and build relationships with our patients.

Sherry is a Colorado Native who loves to watch and cheer on the Broncos, Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche. She completed the Dental Assistant program in 2009, was certified in Nitrous Oxide administration in 2014, and became certified as an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant in 2020.

When she’s not in the office, Sherry loves to cook vegetarian meals, watch a good movie, take nature walks and spend time with her husband, daughter and their 3 male Stumpy tail Australian Cattle Dogs.

Mohan takes his role as Chief of Security very seriously, right up until someone offers a belly rub. He’s a lover, not a fighter. His security strategy is to meet every visitor with a wagging tail and enough kisses to make them surrender on the spot.He runs a tight ship with two firm policies: no baths and no being left behind. Water, in his view, is best admired from a safe distance, and nobody should ever leave without him. When he’s off duty, you’ll find him at Dr. Patel’s side, keeping a close watch on his favorite person.
